CLAS1006 Greek Civilization (3 Credits)
This is a course on the origins of modern western civilization in ancient Greece. It is designed to introduce students to key aspects of ancient Greek literature, art, architecture, society, politics, science, and philosophy, their roots in ancient Egypt and Crete, their influence on Greek times and ways, and their impacts on the modern world. The course is also designed to prepare students for further studies in the humanities and the sciences, business, and the practical arts.
CLAS1007 Roman Civilization (3 Credits)
An introduction to Roman culture and civilization and a general study of Roman literature, religion, philosophy, art and architecture, social and political thought, and Roman influences on the course of Western society.
