Gerontology
Our Gerontology program offers an individualized transfer program for the number of courses that you will have take to get your degree. It is based on your previous post-secondary education level and the grades you received. For instance, if you enroll in our program, and are a graduate of a two-year college diploma program who has maintained an average of 3.2 or better (2.8 at George Brown College), you may be advanced 42 credits of the 90 credits required for the degree.
If you have taken courses elsewhere in Gerontology, you will likely be given advanced standing in the introductory course. You may also be given advanced standing for a number of the electives. The minimum number of credits required for the degree is 36. The length of time for you to get your degree will depend on the number of credits you were advanced. You may also enroll with us on a part-time basis to better accommodate your schedule.
Distance education students must register with Laurentian University's Centre for Continuing Education, which has further details regarding our 3-year B.A. degree in Gerontology. We are the only institution in Canada that offers a distance 3-year B.A. degree in Gerontology.
Articulation agreements have also been signed with Cambrian, George Brown and Georgian colleges for advanced standing for graduates of their Developmental Services Worker Program, Activation Coordinator/Gerontology Program, and Dental Hygiene Program, respectively.
