Laurentian University’s Labour Studies program has introduced a new first year 6 credit course last fall 2007. It’s called:
Introduction to Labour Studies - LBST 1005EL-01
This course is designed to give students the opportunity to understand the history of work, workers, and labour movements, and how the conditions of work have changed since the industrial revolution. It offers an introduction to how governments and business, as well as class, gender, race, and disability shape the world of work. Through a mix of writing assignments, policy papers, films and literature, students will learn how work relates to the world around them. (lec 3) cr 6
