Admission Requirements
Language Requirement:
In order for foreign students to be exempted from the English Academic Preparation (EAP) program at Laurentian, a certain level of English language proficiency is required. One of the following will exempt the student from EAP:
· Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): minimum score of 213 (computer-based), 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based)
· International English Language Testing System (IELTS): minimum score of 6.5
· Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): minimum score of 85
· Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment: minimum score of 60 with 60 in Writing Proficiency.
· Cambridge English Proficiency: minimum result of C
· Three years of full-time senior level studies in an English language secondary school or post secondary institution (official documents required)
French Language Requirement:
In order to be accepted into a French-language programme, the student must have a minimum of 3 years of academic studies in a French-language institution.

Undergraduate applicants (3 years = general, 4 years = honours) must have a secondary school diploma and a minimum grade average of 70%.

Graduate applicants (1 to 2 years of study) must have a four-year university bachelor degree from an accredited university and a minimum grade average of B. Please note that many graduate programmes have other specific requirements. |

You have two options on how to apply to Laurentian:
1. Download the Application Form.
2. The Ontario University Application Centre Online Application Form.
Undergraduate applicants must also ensure to send the following documents:
· Official high school transcripts with notarised English or French translations.
· Official high school diploma with notarised English or French translations.
· Proof of English language proficiency if applying to an English-language programme. (Any of the tests mentioned above.) Unless applying to EAP.
· Resume or CV of current education, interests and work experience.
· Application fee.
· All other requirements requested by your specific programme of study. |
Students applying for any graduate programme must submit an online application. They must also submit the following my mail:
· Official transcripts of all university studies completed (must have an original stamp or seal of the institution) with a notarised English or French translation.
· Official degree or diploma with a notarised English or French translation.
· Proof of English language proficiency if applying to an English-language programme. (Any of the tests mentioned above.) Unless applying to EAP.
· Resume or CV of current education, interests and work experience.
· Application fee.
· All other requirements requested by your specific programme of study.

September Admission is recommended for all academic programs. Some programmes may allow January or May entry with limited course selection.
Midwifery, Nursing, Forensic Science, Radiation Therapy and all Sports programmes have an earlier deadline. Please consult that department’s website for more information. |

Official Documents:
Official documents must be issued directly from the institution, or must be notarised by an official Notary Public. A provisional certificate, a photocopy or fax is considered unofficial and will not be used when making an admission decision.
False or Incomplete Application:
Applicants submitting falsified documents or failing to declare attendance at institutions will have their applications cancelled and no further applications will be considered.
Transfer of Credits:
If you are or have been studying in a college or university, you might be eligible to transfer your credits to Laurentian University. Our admissions office has a policy of credit transfer. Students are assessed on an individual basis.
Application Fee:
The application fee must be received to process your application. Payment can be made by cheque, credit card or international money order. Please not the bank drafts can be accepted but will take a minimum of one month to process. |
