Thesis Procedures (Information)

Information concerning thesis progress

 

 

1. The student must be under supervision of a Thesis Committee no more than 6 months after admission to program.

 

2. The student and Thesis Committee Members must agree with subject of thesis no more than 8 months after admission to program.

 

3. Once approved, the Thesis Committee Members will advise the Program director of thesis mainstream ideas.

 

4. The major part of the examination is essentially a written presentation and an oral defence of the thesis proposal.

 

5. The student’s Supervisory Committee will meet with the student at least once every 6 months and the student will prepare a written summary of progress at least once a year (beginning with the third committee meeting). At least once a year, the Supervisory Committee will provide a written report with copies to the Dean, the Program Director, and the student. The student will be permitted to submit a written response to the committee report if desired. An unsatisfactory performance in three consecutive committee meetings shall be grounds for dismissal from the Program. The student will be responsible for convening the meetings with his or her Supervisory Committee. Students must give cause if they fail to schedule such meetings at appropriate intervals or they will not be allowed to register for the next academic session.
