Admission to all RLST fourth-year courses depends on prerequisites. It is essential that you consult the information on prerequisites (below) and/or contact the Chair of the Joint Department of Religious Studies.
No one is permitted to take more than 6 credits of first-year Religious Studies.

Bachelor of Arts General Programs in Religious Studies
(3 years)
SINGLE CONCENTRATION
With a single concentration, students must complete 36 credits in Religious Studies.
First Year: 6 credits from the following: RLST 1005, 1105, 1116 (3 cr.), 1117 (3 cr.)
Second and Third Years: 30 upper year Religious Studies credits, from either the 2000 or 3000 series. These must include 6 credits from each of the three Study Areas (Judaeo-Christian Tradition, Religions of the World, Religion and Modern Culture). COMBINED CONCENTRATION
With a combined concentration, students must complete 30 credits in each of two disciplines.
First Year: 6 credits from the following: RLST 1005, 1105, 1116 (3 cr.), 1117 (3 cr.).
Second and Third Years: 24 upper year Religious Studies credits, from either the 2000 or 3000 series. These must include 6 credits from each of the three Study Areas (Judaeo-Christian Tradition, Religions of the World, Religion and Modern Culture). Bachelor of Arts Specialized Programs in Religious Studies
(4 years)
SINGLE SPECIALIZATION
With a specialization in Religious Studies, students must complete at least 60 credits in Religious Studies.
First Year: 6 credits from the following: RLST 1005, 1105, 1116 (3 cr.), 1117 (3cr.) each).
Second and Third Years: 36 credits in Religious Studies: These must include 6 credits from each of the three Study Areas (Judaeo-Christian Tradition, Religions of the World, Religion and Modern Culture). See the Laurentian calendar for a list of courses and course descriptions in each Study area.
Fourth Year: 24 credits in Religious Studies, including at least 12 credits from the 4000 series.
Note: Students must complete at least 6 credits of 3000 series courses during the programme.
COMBINED SPECIALIZATION
With a combined specialization in Religious Studies and another discipline, students will complete at least 42 credits in Religious Studies. The details of the programme must be established in consultation with the two departments concerned.
First Year: 6 credits from the following: RLST 1005, 1105, 1116 (3cr.), 1117 (3 cr.).
Second and Third Years: 24 credits in Religious Studies. These must include 6 credits from each of the three Study Areas (Judaeo-Christian Tradition, Religions of the World, Religion and Modern Culture). See the Laurentian calendar for a list of courses and course descriptions in each Study area.
Fourth Year: 12 credits in Religious Studies, including at least 6 credits from the 4000 series.
Note: Students must complete at least 6 credits of 3000 series courses during the programme.

Prerequisites for Admission to 4000 Level Courses:
1) For admission to any 4000 level course: at least 30 credits of RLST, 6 of which are from RLST 1005, 1105, 1116, 1117.
2) For admission to RLST 4116/7: 6 credits from RLST 2106/7, 2186/7, 3126/7, 3136/7, 3156/7, 3166.
For admission to RLST 4135: 6 credits from RLST 2115, 2445, 2136/7, 2166/7, 3177, 3196/7.
For admission to RLST 4225: 6 credits from RLST 2106/7, 2205, 2266/7, 2276/7, 2296/7, 3276/7.
For admission to RLST 4345: 6 credits from RLST 2136/7, 2166/7, 2216, 2336/7, 3306, 3386, 3615.
For admission to RLST 4365: 6 credits from RLST 2106/7, 2136/7, 3315, 3615.
3) Some of the above might be waived by permission of the department.
