The School of Native Human Services Honours Bachelor of Social Work programme is a four year undergraduate programme based at L aurentian University, Sudbury.The programme embraces both Native-based and conventional social work approaches to social work practice guided by the Seven Grandfather and Medicine Wheel teachings that coincide with the Canadian Association for Social Work Education Code of Ethics.  This program develops professional competence in culturally appropriate practice.  The programme is offered on campus and by distance education delivery.  On campus study may be full or part-time, while distance education delivery is offered on a part-time basis only.  Obtain the Honours Bachelor of Social Work Degree on a Full-time basis on campus or through the Distance Education Envision Program offered on a Part-time basis through the Centre for Continuing Education.

Welcome to all new and returning students and visitors to our School of Native Human Services website. 

 

We acknowledge our graduates of 2011, congratulations and best wishes on your journey into the workforce and/or onto Master’s programs.

 

Our Native Human Services Honours Bachelor of Social Work degree provides students with critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities, along with an applied hands-on approach to learning and social work practice.  We offer a unique blend of theoretical and relevant Indigenous application in all of our courses.

 

I encourage you to take advantage of all that our University has to offer.  Try something new: you might undertake a research project, join one of our student clubs, run for student council, or participate in a number of cultural and/or student events.   I hope you have an enjoyable experience at Laurentian University and on our program.
