Core SPAD Courses

The following courses must be taken as part of 45 Core Credits for the two-year SPAD MBA Program – Those with SPAD or Commerce degrees are eligible for advanced standing (note a minimum of 10 courses is always required to complete the MBA-SPAD)

Core Commerce Courses

The following Commerce courses must also be taken as part of the SPAD MBA program.  The Commerce courses give individuals the essential business knowledge to help them in their career in the sports industry.  The combination of SPAD and Commerce courses will help to give graduates the edge over their competitors in the job market.

·         Business Policy - Strategic Formulation

·         Business Statistics

·         Financial Accounting for Managers

·         Financial Analysis and Control

·         Introduction to Marketing

·         Introduction to Micro and Macro Economics

·         Management Accounting and Control

·         Management Science

·         Organizational Behaviour

Electives (Non-Thesis)

Students enrolled in the non-thesis stream must also select five Commerce 6000 electives, including at least three of the following:

·         Sport and the Law

·         Entrepreneurship in Sport

·         The Sport Consumer

·         Special Topics: Sport Management

·         International Sport Management

·         Other electives are in development

Electives (Thesis)

Students enrolled in the Thesis stream must take the following courses:

·         Thesis (equivalent to 4 courses)

·         Business Research Methods

·         Current Research Issues in Management

·         One course listed under the non-thesis stream electives
