November 21, 2011

Laurentian University congratulates its young leaders for being named among Sudbury’s top 40 under forty for 2011.  This year, twenty-two of the 40 Under Forty recipients are members of the Laurentian community.

“I am especially proud that more than half of this year’s award recipients are valued members of our extended Laurentian University community,” said Laurentian University President and Vice-Chancellor Dominic Giroux.  “I congratulate all recipients on this achievement and for being recognized as a bright part of our City’s future.”

Students, alumni, faculty and staff of Laurentian University were all represented among this year’s honourees.

“It is readily apparent that Laurentian’s people make a difference in our community.  They play leadership roles in all walks of life, they contribute to arts, sciences and business, and they add to the prosperity and vitality of our city,” said Dr. Robert Kerr, Vice-President, Academic and Provost.  “We are all proud of the young people who’ve been recognized, and the over-forty crowd is happily cheering them on.”

The 40 Under Forty awards are held to acknowledge the talent, ambition and successes of the upcoming generation of leaders. Award winners were selected based on their accomplishments, level of expertise in their respective field as well as community and charitable activities.  Additional information on the awards can be obtained here.
